Webster Farmer is Death Victim
Eupora - James Artemus Vernon, 85, retired Webster county farmer, passed away at his home near Stewart following an illness which confined him to his bed for five days.

Mr. Vernon was born in Webster County near Stewart on August 3, 1848. He was married on January 14, 1869 to Miss Sara Ann Narcissus Jacks. His wife preceded him to the grave by several years. Mr. Vernon was a lifelong member of the Baptist church. Surviving relatives are five daughters, Mrs. R. T. Murphy, Mrs. Eula H. Griffith, and Mrs. Ota Wilson, Stewart; Mrs. E.G. Neely, James; Mrs. L. W. Jones, Pine Bluff Arkansas; two sons, E.L. Vernon, Fannin, Miss.; and V. I. Vernon, Stewart. a half-sister, Mrs. Artie Watkins, Maben; other near relatives, Seth Mitchell and Angelie Bailey of Stewart; and Walter Mitchell, Itta Bena. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. yesterday afternoon in Milligan Springs Cemetery by a friend, J. M. Palmertree. Interment followed in the cemetery there.
