After moving westward from his native area, he married Margaret Wilson (1830 @Ireland - 1862 @Indiana) in 1852 in Hendricks County, Indiana
4 children were born to this couple: Joseph, David, Esther and Sylvanus.
After Margaret's death, Marquis united in marriage in 1862 in Hendricks County, Indiana to Nancy Watts. They were in Indiana for a few years, moving to Vermilion County, Illinois by 1867, remaining there a few years before relocating to Chatauqua County, Kansas by 1880
To this marriage were born Mary, Margaret, Electa, Oscar, Otis, Homer and Lillie. (I do not know about others)
