Don was a 1960 graduate of Bedford High School, and was the manager for the Football and Basketball teams. He enjoyed following the Bedford High School teams, and keeping track of the athletes in their sports, saving newspaper clippings and sending graduation cards. Don enjoyed playing intermural basketball at "The Greens", coaching softball in Snake Spring, and following Notre Dame and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, in Everett, and was an altar server for many years. Don always had a smile, and loved taking his wife on car rides to get ice cream or see a movie.
