Ozark County Times, Gainesville, Missouri, 29 June 2022:
A memorial service for Steven Lynn Hicks, 67, of Gainesville, is planned for 10 am Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Lilly Ridge General Baptist Church. Cremation services are under the direction of Clinkenbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville. Steven was born July 24, 1955, the son of Melvin and Roxie Hicks in West Plains. Steve Hicks passed away at his home on June 24.
He attended high school in Mountain Home, Arkansas, where he played football and baseball.
A jack-of-all-trades, Steve worked numerous jobs in his life including cattle farming, long haul trucking, construction, propane delivery, and as a heavy equipment operator.
When not working, Steve loved to reload and shoot guns. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed many trips to Colorado elk and mule deer hunting.
He was a handyman extraordinaire, who could fix or work on just about anything that took a wrench. He rebuilt many motors in his life and was just about as handy as a pocket on a shirt.
He met the love of his life, Melba June (Turner) Hicks, they were married on March 23, 1984.
Steve and June built a wonderful life together and were proud parents to their son, Trevor, and daughter, Jordan.
He always had a funny story to share, and he will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones, his memory will forever live with them. The world needs more dads like Steve Hicks.
June preceded Steve in death on Feb. 28, 2019.
Surviving, in addition to daughter, Jordan Hicks of Springfield, and son, Trevor and wife, Kalee Hicks of Gainesville, are his mother, Roxie Hicks, two brothers, Neal and Scott Hicks and countless relatives, friends, and his beloved breakfast club.
