Luther McLeod Beal, D.D.S., 101 Dentist Lakeland- Dr. Luther M. Beal died September 12, 2014 at Florida Presbyterian Homes due to natural causes. He was 101 years old. He was born in Chapman, Alabama on July 28, 1913. Dr. Beal moved to Lakeland in 1924 from Tampa. He served in the United States Army during World War II serving in the Dental Corps. He graduated from Florida Southern College and dental school at Loyola University in New Orleans, La. Dr. Beal was a dentist in Lakeland since 1947 retiring in 1979. He was a member of College Heights United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of the American Dental Association. He was also a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, Lions Club, 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #91, Scottish Rite and York Rite. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margaret ""Peggy"" Ropp Beal, brother, Lykie C. Beal and sister, Kay Davis. Survivors include, three daughters, Kathryn B. Law, Tallahassee, Virginia B. Steege, Dallas, Texas, Margaret B. (Kevin) Garrison, Lexington, Ky., five grandchildren, Brian Cody (Elizabeth) Law, Benjamin Garrison, Amanda Garrison, Jennifer (Nathan) Albers, Rebecca Steege, two great grandchildren, Eli Law and Emma Albers, several nieces and nephews, and friends, Beth and Dale Kimsey, and John and Nancy Ellis. Memorials may be made to Florida Presbyterian Homes, 16 Lake Hunter Drive, Lakeland, Fl. 33803, Cornerstone Hospice, 2590 Havendale Blvd., Winter Haven, Fl. 33881 or to College Heights United Methodist Church, 942 South Blvd., Lakeland, Fl. 33803. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at Heath Funeral Chapel and Graveside Services will be held at Oak Hill Burial Park on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Florida Presbyterian Homes for all their support, love and kindness.
