Donald Dean "Duck" Conn, age 66, of rural Knoxville, Iowa, passed away at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics, on Monday, June 27, 2022.

Visitation for Duck will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Family will be present to greet friends and relatives from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held also at the funeral home on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. Following service, a luncheon will be held at the Pershing Community Center. A private family burial will take place on a later date at Zion Cemetery.

Donald Dean "Duck" Conn was born on February 11, 1956, in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Wortha (Franklin) Conn. He attended country school in rural Appanoose County until the 8th grade. He then left school and started working to help support his family.

Duck was united in marriage to Brenda Shaffer in 1981. They were blessed with two daughters, Jessica, and Rachel. As a young man he worked as a gravedigger, and then worked at a rock quarry with Ron Swan. Duck was later employed for Sternquist Construction in Indianola as a rock crusher until his retirement in 2016.

Duck enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and coon hunting. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish Duck's memory include his daughters, Jessica (Jeremy) Smith of Montezuma and Rachel Reed of Pershing; grandchildren, Alli Reed, Chance Reed, Mason Smith, Blake Smith, and Baylea Smith; also his siblings, Wortha (Robert) DeVore, Sandra (Ernie) Mowry, Edward (Sherry) Conn, Tom Conn, and Cindy (Andy) Parman. Duck is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth, and Wortha Conn; infant brother, Kenneth Conn; and brother Kenneth "Bud" Conn.
