Lewis was the son of Hiram Driggs and Evaline Lewis Driggs. He had 3 brothers, 1 sister
and 1 half sister, as follows: Orville, William, Ola, Dora and Bertha.
Evaline Driggs, Lewis and Dora moved to Jefferson County, Colorado in 1880 after Hiram and Evaline divorced when sister Dora was two years old. Hiram remarried, Evaline didn't.
Lewis was 14 years old and working as a laborer to help his mother and his
sister Dora, the only two still in the household.
He married Nellie Lucinda Parker November 18th, 1899 in Durango, La Plata County,
Colorado. This marriage lasted long enough to produce 2 daughters, Phyllis and Helen.
Lewis's mother and Dora moved back to Kansas where Dora married a man named Walter Riley, and Evaline lived out her days with them.
Nellie filed for a divorce and it was granted. By 1898, Nellie was remarried and Lewis
was working in the mines in Silverton, Colorado.
In 1906, Lewis was in Arizona. He ended up in Globe, Arizona, where he had a small
boarding house which supported him until his death in 1937.
