Eunice I. Weiler (formerly Back), age 89, of Portage, IN passed away Sunday, January 20, 2008 at her home. Eunice had been an area resident for over 70 years. She was a member of Real Life Community Church. Eunice is survived by her four children:

Dr. Jerry (Rose) Back, M.D. of Golden, CO
one stepson, Ray (Charlotte) Weiler of Crown Point, IN
16 grandchildren: Terri Pruitt (Richard) of Valparaiso, IN, Jan Van Swol (Darryl) of Portage, IN, Jim Szpakowski (Sally) of Sugarland, TX, Linda Hall of Portage, Scott Szpakowski (Lisa) of Mesa, AZ, Deanna Weiler of Lakewood, CO, Amelia Back of Chicago, IL, Mark Back and Hillary Back both of Crown Point, IN, Nathan Back and Evan Back both of Golden, CO, Jennifer Back of Indianapolis, IN, Jeremy Back of Las Vegas, NV, Tami (Phillip) Spalding of Poplar Bluff, MO, Christine Back of Portage, IN and Mary Jo Weiler of Crown Point, IN;
11 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren;
two brothers: Virgil (Susan) Dooley and C. W. Cooley; and one sister, Wanda (Don) Wilson.
Eunice was preceded in death by her husbands: Virlan Back and Albert Weiler; and grandson, Michael Back. Eunice loved to dance, garden and play bingo. She was a lifelong homemaker who reveled in her family and friends. She loved people and so often over the years, her house was filled with generations of family, friends and loved ones. In her final days, she was blessed by being surrounded by so many that loved her and will miss her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, IN with Rev. Bob Burton officiating. Eunice will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Portage, IN. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel (219) 762-3013 or online at:
