My dear, sensitive, and very thoughtful cousin was a genius, which wasn't a surprise. Both our dads were also in that category. Steve could take apart, fix, and reassemble any motor, computer. He loved classic cars and was phenomenal at identifying them, details about each respective engine rushing forth effortlessly from his memory.
We met as kids. He remembered lots of things from our house on the lake, including our classic station wagon. Hadn't seen each other in decades. It started as an email but became a long walk through our family history, in order to solve a mystery. It was a bit like therapy for us both. He found most of the answers himself though I did help, and listen. He shared a story in an old letter that I needed to hear. It took my understanding of who we are as a family to a deeper level, full of sadness and love. I am so grateful to have known Steve, and my heart is heavy now that he is gone. -Deirdre

Steve's Obit:
Stephen Wells Rollins left this earthly realm on June 13, 2022, just 4 days after his 69th birthday. A celebration of life will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 4 pm.
He was an "Air Force brat" as a child, moving all around the country with his family. He lived in places as varied as San Antonio, Texas, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Champagne, Illinois.
Steve lived most of his adult life in Austin and his last 16 years in Lampasas. He was an accomplished mechanic and he could rebuild truck engines and even tabletop radios. Steve earned an Associate of Arts degree at McLennan County Community College, and worked many years at the SEARS Service Center in Austin, contributing quality work there up to his retirement. He was also a gifted artist, he created beautiful watercolors, usually with automotive subject matter. Later in life he developed an interest in computers and was gifted in that area too, providing free support services to friends and church associates.
Steve was exceedingly kind. He loved his pets (dogs, Sparkles, and Chloe currently), and animals in general. He was a devoted husband of 16 years to his wife, Janice, and was a devoted caregiver to his special needs step-son, Sean.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; step-son, Sean; father-in-law, Perry Winn; brothers, Bryan and Robert, as well as numerous cousins and aunts.
He was a beautiful soul, and he will be missed terribly. We love you so much Steve and know that you're now in God's warm embrace.
