Working in Oil Field When Struck By Timber

O.R. Clements was fatally injured in the oil field
near Seminole, Oklahoma , when struck across
the head by a lever, Friday. Clements' skull was
crushed and he was rendered unconscious, but
he regained consciousness at times before his
death on Sunday.
Mr. Clements went to Seminole only a few months
ago from this county . The body was returned
here Tuesday and burial took place Wednesday
at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, southwest of Ava.
He is survived by his wife, three brothers, four
sisters, and eight children . The children are ,
Mrs. J.E. Carroll, Humboldt, Kans ; Mrs. Luna
Hamby , Smallett , Mo. ; Oval and Opal who made
their home with their parents ; Thad Clements,
Humboldt, Kans ; Dewey Clements, Hest, Mo. ;
and John Clements, Roy, Mo. One son Cecil
Clements was accidentally killed about a
year ago while at work in a cement plant in
Humboldt, Kansas.
Mr. Clements is well know in Douglas County ,
especially in the section West of Ava where
he spent most of his life. He was a member of
the General Baptist Church. Mrs. Clements
was with one of her sons in Humboldt , Kansas
at the time of his accident , arrived at Seminole
in time to spend several hours with her husband
before his death.
Mrs. Clements received much comfort in her
husband's declaration that " I'm ready to die,
and accept death as a golden key to eternity ".
All of the children were here Wednesday for
the funeral.
