Monroe Junior Patterson, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his Forsyth, MO home on February 9th, 2022. Monroe was a veteran who served in the Vietnam war.

Private Patterson was born on August 29th, 1949, in Springfield, MO to his parents Vurla Billups Patterson and Murl Homer Patterson. When he was just 18, Monroe decided he wanted to join the Army and was stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Monroe would go on to serve in the Vietnam War with his brother, Daniel.

After serving in Vietnam, Private Patterson spent time in southwest Missouri fishing and his hobby carpentry, which was close to his heart. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry, and spending time with his family.

Private Patterson was a loving father, and a brave and honorable soldier. He is survived by his children and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his siblings who carry on his legacy.

Monroe is preceded in death by his parents, Murl and Vurla Patterson and his brother James.

A Celebration of Life was held at the Amvets Post 78 on February 12th at 3 PM, 3434 State Hwy 176, Rockaway Beach, MO 65740.

Monroe was interred June 22, 2022
