Lee Raymond and Nannie Rose (Burrell) Sims. She was best known for her love of the piano, and that love was reflected in her dedication to teaching music to students of all ages throughout her adult life. Camilla began her career in music at the age of 16. She was the organist at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church where she was a longtime member, playing for numerous weddings and funerals. After retiring, Camilla could be seen at various churches in Georgia and North Carolina, substituting for a pianist whenever needed.
After Camilla and her husband France returned to Hiawassee following his completion of his military deployment overseas, they resided in Hiawassee until their deaths. Camilla loved to explore different tasks, becoming a Head Start teacher in the 1960s, and later assuming the duties of a Town County Registrar. A most memorable project that still stands today is the founding of the original Georgia Mountain Restaurant, established by France and Camilla Hogsed. Although the original building has changed, France and Camilla named the restaurant, and Camilla managed it for several years.
Camilla is preceded in death by her husband, France; parents, Lee Raymond Sims and Nannie Rose Burrell Sims Tatham; and brothers, Bruce Sims and Dale Sims.
