Howard G. Abell, 84, Pendleton, passed away June 19, 2022 at his home.

He was born June 11, 1938 in Birdseye, Indiana and moved to the Pendleton area from Huntingburg.

Howard retired from Citizen's Gas and Coke Utility as a welder following many years of service.

He was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Pendleton and was a US Army Reserve and Indiana National Guard veteran. Howard enjoyed tinkering in his barn, gardening, bluegrass music, attending car shows and tractor pulls. He had an old Farmall tractor he enjoyed driving in parades.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Delores F. (Anderson) Abell whom he married, February 25, 1961; daughter, Cindy Lewis; grandsons, Nathan Poore and Joshua Poore; brother, Harold Abell; sister, Mildred Abell; niece, Leah Birk; and nephews, Sonny Steffen and Ronnie Abell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred B. and Lula M. (Smith) Abell; a sister and several brothers.

Services at 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 6509 S. State Road 67, Pendleton with Pastor Aaron Hargis officiating. Visitation from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the church.

Graveside services including military honors at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Mentor Cemetery near Birdseye, Indiana.
