Robert L. Bugg, 87, of Harrisville, stepped into the eternal arms of his Lord and Savior on June 20, 2022. He was at home with family.
He was born on October 26, 1934 in Curran, Michigan to parents Leroy and Wanda (Hensey) Bugg. Following his graduation from Harrisville High School in 1954, he married his high school sweetheart, Margaret S. Beaton and celebrated 67 years of marriage on June 18th this year. Together they raised two children, Raymond and Nancy.
Bob served in the Army as a Specialist E-4 from 1957 – 59. Following his military service, he and Margaret returned to Harrisville where they have been lifetime residents of Alcona County.
Bob began working for Steadman Brothers of Harrisville and in 1968, he and his family moved to Bay City, Michigan. In 1972 he became the owner/operator of Horizontal Boring, Inc. that specialized in underground tunneling. Robert used to joke that he had a very "boring" job.
Bob and his family were all members of the First Presbyterian Church in Bay City. He also regularly served at the Old Stone Church of Harrisville by providing snow removal, landscaping, or maintenance services.
Bob was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman. He maintained a small vineyard and made homemade wine. Bob built and raced six cylinder stock cars during the 1970's and was known to have the ability to fix anything. "Papa Boomtruck's" collection of backhoes, bulldozers, and dump trucks were the envy of all the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clayton, Donald, Richard, and David; and sisters, Eleanor, Lorraine, and Betty.
Bob's integrity, honesty and trustworthiness were as remarkable as his bright blue eyes. His devoted love to his family will be cherished in memory. On the day of his baptism in 2019, he described his confession of faith in Jesus Christ by saying, "There was only one other time in my life that I said, 'I do'."
