She was best known to both theatergoers and film viewers as the ambitious mistress and secretary Hedy La Rue in both the popular stage adaptation and film "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." (1967) She got her first taste of show business when her parents put her on stage during vaudeville nights. While studying theater at Northwestern, she won a national talent contest on CBS' "The Garry Moore Show," which earned her a weeklong gig at the Palace in New York and a chance to compete on the TV talent program "Chance of a Lifetime," which she won for six straight weeks. Before making her acting debut in the 1958 film "Hot Rod Gang," she studied drama at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York and was a frequent guest on Steve Allen's "Tonight Show." Besides the film adaptation of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," she later appeared in such films as "Thnuder Alley," (1967) "A Man Called Dagger," (1968) "The Love God?," (1969) "The Love Machine," (1971) and "Harry and Walter Go to New York." (1976) She made her "small screen" debut on the series "Flight" in 1958. She would go on to appear in such television series as "Bourbon Street Beat," "Perry Mason," "Get Smart," "Gomer Pyle: USMC," "Kolchak: The Night Stalker," "The Red Hand Gang," "Mork & Mindy," "Empire," and "Empty Nest." Besides the hit Broadway play "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," she also appeared in several other theatrical stage productions.
