She was the daughter of General Jeremiah Miller, the first Postmaster at East Hampton. He was a descendant in the seventh generation from John Miller, an early settler of East Hampton and died at the age of 62, his wife dying at age 94.
She was married in 1831 to Henry D. Stratton and their golden wedding was celebrated in 1881. They had lived together 58 years when Mr. Stratton died.
Their children were Theodore Stratton, for many years host at the Third House, Montauk; Samuel Dayton Stratton who has lived in Sandwich Illinois since 1836; and Mrs. Kate Vaan Fossen, a widow at East Hampton.
