Donald Lester MacDougall was the son of Captain Archibald Alexander Macdougall (1864-1941) and Annie May Flynn (1871-1958). He was born 28 April 1896 in Charlottetown, PEI. He had 8 siblings: Margaret Marie (Holland) 1894-1989, Walter Archibald 1898-1981, William Herbert 1900-1952, Louise Jean (Coyle Bragg) 1903-1997, Ruth Mary 1905-1932, James Leroy "Roy" 1908-1968, Elinor Irene 1910-1911(?) (no records after baptism, likely died in infancy), and Edna Frances (Gormley) 1911-1994. In PEI he served in the military - AMC for 2 years and Prince Edward Island Heavy Brigade, Canadian Garrison Artillery fr 9 months - at some point before 1916. He lived at his family's home at 26 Dorchester St in Charlottetown, PEI until 1920 when he moved to Watertown, Massachusetts. He married Frances Florence Thurston on 15 August 1920 in Watertown. They lived at 18 Adams St in Watertown and had 5 children: Virginia Frances (Murphy) 1921-2010, Harold H 1923-1924, Doris Lorain (Willis) 1925-1989, Hilda Marilyn (Coburn) 1927-1998, and Donald Elwood b. 1930.
