A son of Samuel and Elenor (Clemons) Patch. James married Melvina T. Culver, a daughter of Leverett and Abigail (Hart) Culver on January 1, 1861 at Wells, Vermont.

He was named for his grandfather "James Clemons" who died at the Battle of Plattsburg in the War of 1812.

James and Melvina (Culver) Patch were members of the East Wallingford Baptist Church.

HIS DESCENDANCY

James is a descendant of immigrant Nicholas Patch Jr., who came to Colonial America between the years 1622 - 1630: (James, Samuel, Simon II, Simon I, Ebenezer, Isaac, Thomas, Nicholas, Nicholas, William).
