Dad was born in Springhill, LA on September 6, 1946, to George and Ouida Bethany, and passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 in Shreveport, LA. He was the oldest of four children. Dad graduated from Taylor High School in 1964. Not long after, he married the love of his life, Peggy Jean Sullivan. The two were so in love and couldn't wait to be wed that Peggy's parents signed for her to marry Terry on July 28, 1967, the day before she turned eighteen- a fairytale that we are reminded of every year we celebrate mom's birthday.

Dad lived in Springhill most of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and flying model airplanes. After high school, he spent time in the Army Reserves. He worked at IP here in Springhill for several years before he went to work for General Motors at the plant in Shreveport where he modeled excellent attendance and hard work. He was very proud of the work he did at GM and told us stories about working there often. He retired from there in 2013.

He and mom raised us two boys and we kept them very busy. From hunting, fishing, riding go-karts, playing baseball, and taking us skiing and tubing on the lake, there was never a dull moment. When the grandkids came, that didn't change. He loved and cherished our kids with everything in him and it was known by anyone that knew him.

He would often tell mom how happy and blessed he was with the life they had built together. Dad was always there for us. There isn't much that he didn't teach us how to do. He will be missed more than words can express but we are grateful for the years we had with him.

Mr. Bethany is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peggy Bethany of Springhill, LA; two sons, Jason Bethany and Jonathan Bethany both of Springhill, LA; brother, Mike Bethany and wife, Linda of Macedonia, AR; sister, Brenda Lindsey of Springhill, LA; five grandsons, Zack Boyett of Houston, TX, Tyler Bethany of Cadiz, KY, Matthew Bethany of Cadiz, KY, Kaleb Bethany of Springhill, LA, Kolton Bethany of Springhill, LA; granddaughter, Kalli Bethany of Springhill, LA; Grandson by love, Brody Bernard of Springhill, LA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Martha Redmon.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Bethany, Matthew Bethany, Kaleb Bethany, Eric Bethany, Kevin Redmon.
