Dr. Betty Jane Klahr-Einfalt, 88, passed Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at Ohio Living Park Vista in Youngstown.

Born Aug. 7, 1931 in Bethel, Pa., Betty was the daughter of Allen and Stella Edris Klahr.

After high school, she moved to Chicago in 1951 to attend University of Illinois Chicago, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She continued her education at the University of Illinois Medical School and graduated in 1958. She also met her husband, Dr. Bertwin E. Einfalt, during medical school; they married Sept. 20, 1958. She completed her residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Betty established a practice in the Youngstown area and worked as a pediatrician for 50 years. She also worked at many nonprofit clinics in the area and served as an instructor in pediatrics at NEOUCOM.

Betty supported the arts, education and community through her involvement and donations to many charitable organizations; she had a strong desire to help people in need within our community. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and, most of all, spending time with family and friends.

Betty is survived by her children, John, Janet and Lisa; her siblings, Rita and John; her grandchildren, May and Christopher; and one great-grandchild.

Besides her parents and a brother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Bertwin E. Einfalt, who died in 1983.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, with calling hours one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Butler Institute of American Art, SMARTS Art School, or the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.

Arrangements were handled by Lane Family Funeral Homes.
