Former Charlotte Resident Passes Away at Spencer, Where He Had Been Residing For Several Months--Remains to Charlotte.
Mr. Thomas Jackson Sprinkle, for a number of years a resident of Charlotte, died Thursday afternoon at 5 o'clock, at Spencer, where he has lived for the past four months.
Mr. Sprinkle was 69 years of age, having been born in Winnsboro, S. C., February 22, 1840. He was married in 1860 to Miss Louisa Murphy who died seven years ago. By her there were three daughters, Mesdames Samuel Presson, Robert Anderson and Baxter Yandle, who live in Charlotte. Several years ago he was married to Mrs. Belle Jenkins, who survives him.
Mr. Sprinkle was 30 years connected with the Southern Express Company in this city. He was a valiant Confederate soldier and served for three years during the war.
The remains were brought to Charlotte this afternoon and taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Anderson, No. 1011 North Church street. The funeral services will be conducted to-morrow morning at 11 o'clock from the Ninth Avenue Baptist church, Rev. L. R. Pruett, the pastor, officiating. The decons of the church will act as pall-bearers and the interment will be at Elmwood.
