Revolutionary War Soldier

Caleb Armitage first served in the Continental Army as Lieutenant: later as Captain of the 3rd Philadelphia Co. Militia. (Pennsylvania Archives, 6th Series, Vol. 1, pgs. 667, 668, 676, 677, 681, 695, 923, 926, 926, 927, 934, 952 and 954.)

Wife: Mary Stryker-Armitage d. 1809

'Caleb Armitage, a German, after his emigration to America lived at Germantown, but before the close of the Revolution the family settled near the mouth Mill Creek and he became owner of the Pridmore Mills. For a time he was an officer in the struggle for independence but, left the service at the time indicated.'

The name changed from Pridmore Mills to Armitage's Mill Creek--and today is known as Mill Creek.

Capt. Caleb and Mary (Stryker) Armitage had the following children:
John, Benjamin Sr., Caleb Jr, George, Nancy (m. James Alexander); Sarah 'Sally' (m. Alexander Powers. They had no children); Jane (m. John McConnell) and Martha (m. John Miller)
