In 1828, Hannah's husband, John Elliott, became a citizen of Paris Twp. Within a few years, he became the owner of 200 acres in the northwestern part of the township, where he passed the remainder of his life. John was an ardent Methodist, but later was one of the prime movers in the organization of the United Brethren Church. His politics were Democratic.
