NEWPORT -- Funeral services for Artie Lorene McClennahan will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gardner and the Rev. W.C. Hamilton officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. McClennahan was born Dec. 29, 1912, in Dixie to Preston Thomas and Alme Mae Bettes and died Aug. 16, 2000, at a local hospital. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Jean Gardner and a granddaughter, Brandi Mize.
She married Biggs L. McClennahan on Jan. 5, 1931, in Ardmore and lived in the Newport area most of her life. She was a member of the Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of the home; two sons, Rhoton Basil McClennahan, Lone Grove and Finis L. McClennahan of Clarksville, Ark.; a daughter, Ina Ruth Mize, Ardmore; a sister, Inez Carpenter of Ardmore; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Brad Mize, Ricky Mize, Kenneth Mize, Ronnie Gardner, Nubbin McClennahan and Kenneth Knight. Honorary Bearers are Greg Deberry and Gary Don McClennahan.
Services are under the direction of Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home.
