She was born on January 24, 1936 in Robeson County, NC.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Covington; a son, James Covington; her parents, Lee Bass and Ada Barnes-Bass; two brothers, Wilbert Bass and Lloyd Bass; and a sister, Mary Major.
She is survived by a son, David Covington of Lumberton, NC; a daughter, Betty Savage of Lumberton, NC; two grandchildren, Brian Savage and Allison Savage; and two great-grandchildren, Keira Savage and Daniel Savage.
The graveside services will be held at New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton, NC with Pastor Jeff Broadwell officiating.
