Marlow - HAZEL LELAR STEPHENS, 87, of Marlow, Okla., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, in Marlow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in Glory Bound Church, with Kenneth Adams, G.W. Howard and Noel Sneed officiating. Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow

HAZEL LELAR STEPHENS, 87, of Marlow, Okla., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, in Marlow.
Hazel was born Sunday, July 17, 1921, in Lindsay, Okla., to Noah Andrew Adams and Leona Akridge Adams. She attended school north of Lindsay at Dare schools. Hazel lived in Sterling from 1941 to 1974, before moving to Marlow. She has lived in Marlow since 1974.
Hazel married Clifford Vaught in 1941 in Purcell, Okla., and he preceded her in death in 1974. She later married Emmitt Stephens in 1988 in Marlow, and he preceded her in death in 2007.
Hazel enjoyed cooking, canning, and gardening. She loved to sing and be with her church family. Hazel also enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She was a member of Hilltop Church of God in Marlow.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Vaught and wife Stacy of Marlow; three grandchildren, Clifford Vaught of Marlow, and Lori Halliburton and husband David, and Ricky Vaught, all of Duncan; three great-grandchildren, Trinity Hazel Vaught, David Blake Halliburton, and Angela Michelle Halliburton; one sister, Ruby Stanley of Marlow; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepson, Al Vaught; a great-grandson, Anthony Reece Vaught; five brothers, Leonard Adams, Melford Adams, Ora Adams, Floyd Adams and Alvin Adams; two sisters, Leora Graham and Effie Wray; and a sister-in-law whom she thought of as a sister, Nell Wright.
