Mollie Bette Alston Silver was born on October 17, 1939 and went to her heavenly home on December 26, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Cleveland and Flossie Silver Alston.
Mollie received her early education from Nash County schools. Mollie retired from Abbott Laboratories in 1990 and enjoyed working part-time at the County Landfill until 1999.
At an early age, she joined Pine Chapel Baptist Church where she remained until she moved to Virginia. Upon her return to North Carolina, she rejoined her church and became an active member of the Usher Board and Missionary until her health failed. She never lost her faith in God and continued to be grateful for each day.
To know Mollie was to enjoy and share a good conversation or laugh with her. Even when she wasn't feeling well, she wanted to talk or would shake her finger to get her point across. Those who knew her well, knew how much she loved her flowers. She and her sister, Florine would stop by people's houses simply to admire their flowers. They were both avid flower lovers.
She was also preceded in death by her sons, Steven and Bobby Silver, sister, Florine Tucker and brothers, Cleveland and Willie Alston.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her husband of sixty years, Larry J. Silver of the home; one daughter, Marilyn Silver of Stockbridge, GA; two sons, Dr. Jonathan Silver (Dr. Olive) of Manhattan, NY and Michael Silver (Linda) of Nashville, NC; four grandchildren, Lauryn, Malachi, Damien Silver (Tessa) and LaQuisha Mabry; four great grandchildren, Tristan and Gabriella Silver, Nagee' and KeNasja Wilkins; four sisters, Queenie Richardson (Foster), Thelma Arrington, Dorothy Royster (Thurman) and Elois Jean Evans (Samuel Earl); five sisters-in-law, Kate Alston, Helena Alston, Ernestine Hines (Charlie), Clayteese Coppedge and Etherleen Cotton; four brothers-in-law, Ralph Tucker, Danny (Pam), John Silver (Shirley) and Vernon Silver (Barbara); a host of nieces, nephews and one beloved nephew, Stanley Royster, who was like one of her sons; many other relatives and friends.
Our mom, sister, confidant and friend will be missed. She will forever be loved by those she left behind.
