Danny Edward Appleby the son of Forrest E. and Ellen (Thomas) Appleby was born July 15, 1951, in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Danny grew up in Elwood, Kansas with his parents, older brother Delbert, twin brother Randy , sister Tina and youngest brother Shawn. He attended Elwood Public School. Danny joined the U.S. Army in 1969 and his service took him to Vietnam where he served as a sniper. He also received his GED before being honorably discharged in 1973.

After leaving the Army Danny moved to St. Joesph, Missouri, and worked in construction and general home repairs. In 1987 he moved to Edgar, Nebraska where he worked for the Wagon Wheel in Fairfield, NE, and JR'S Drive Inn Edgar, NE as a cook. It was at JR's Drive Inn where he met his future wife Carol. 0n April 29, 1988, at Danny's Aunt Betty's garden in St. Joseph,MO.

Danny was united in marriage to Carol Nowka Barrett . They made their home in Edgar, NE and celebrated 34 years of marriage. In 1989 Danny took course work for certification and became employed by Sandy Creek Public Schools as the custodian for the Edgar Elementary.

After the elementary relocated in 1996 Danny became a plumbing apprentice for Trendyway Plumbing , Lincoln, NE until 2000 when he began working for Gottsch Feed Yard, Red Cloud, NE He retired in 2016. Through the years Danny also did small engine repair. Danny was active in the community and was a member of the American Legion Warren Fletcher Post 248 and the Edgar Lion's.

He was also a member the Saint James Lutheran Church and then Church of the Plains both of Edgar. Danny loved to fish, play cards, visit about small motors and serve pancakes at the Lion's pancake feed . His favorite pass time was driving the country side going to see how the Little Blue River was running. Of course everyone will remember him having his dear dogs DeDe and Awegie by his side.
