Daniel was a member of Pea River Masonic Lodge. His death date came from the Masonic record book. Pea River Lodge which was located in Victoria, Coffee County, Alabama, asked the Geneva Lodge to accompany him to the cemetery because he lived near Chancellor, and they were closer. His burial place is unmarked, but is believed to be in Mount Pleasant Baptist Cemetery which is in Coffee County, near the Geneva County line. Four of his children are buried in this cemetery.

Daniel was the youngest child of John Kyser (born abt 1767 - died before 1860) who left South Carolina about 1820, moving eventually to Pike/Barbour County, Alabama, and then to Dale/Coffee County, Alabama. He purchased land from the Sparta Land Office in March of 1836. The land is located in what was at the time Dale County, later Coffee County, in the northestern part of present-day Coffee County.
