Leo Bentaas, age 88 of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022. His Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 10, 2022 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls with Public Visitation on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 PM, also at the funeral home. Memorials can be directed to Sanford Health Foundation - Hospice.

Leo W Bentaas was born on July 9, 1933 as the only child to Justin and Emma (Olson) Bentaas on a farm near Astoria, SD. He attended Astoria High School and moved Sioux Falls shortly after graduation.

Leo was united in marriage to the love of his life, Bonnie Engen, on September 5, 1953. The couple made their home in the Hilltop neighborhood in eastern Sioux Falls. He worked at Morrells in the roustabout department for 42 years and ended his career as the foreman of that department.

Following his retirement he had a variety of part time jobs.

Leo was a member of Grace Lutheran church. He enjoyed spending time at their lake home on Lake Campbell, playing cards with friends, and spending time with his family.

Grateful for sharing his life are his sons, Daniel (Ruth) and Dirk (Theresa), all of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Brittany (Korey) Kraayenbrink, Steve (Jamie) Bentaas, Melissa (Scott) Feilmeier, and Justin Bentaas (Kelsea Hotvet); nine great-grandchildren, Chandler, Lennon, and Parker Bentaas, Bryson, Landon, and Hadley Kraayenbrink, and Keegan, Adalynn, and Jaden Feilmeier.

Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; and his parents, Justin and Emma (Olson) Bentaas.
