Mr. Tonnie Jay Abbott, 74, passed away Thursday January 20, 2022 after a brief battle with COVID, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 23, 1947, in Stokes County to the late Harvey Franklin and Marjorie Louise Abbott. Mr. Abbott was a long-time member of Bannertown Baptist Church where he loved and served the Lord faithfully as Chairman of the deacon board for 49 years. In addition, he was a loving and devoted husband to Hope Abbott for 56 years. Tonnie was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to many. Mr. Abbott will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by daughter Toni Abbott, Son John Abbott, Daughter-in-law Loretta Abbott, grandchildren, Christian Samuels, Kendra Samuels, Sydney Abbott, Tiffany Abbott, Nathan Edmonds, Andrew Edmonds, and one sister Donna Peeples. A funeral service will be conducted for both Tonnie and wife Hope at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Bannertown Baptist Church with Rev. Don Charles and Pastor Jessie Butcher officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the church.
