She was born on January 12, 1906 in Bloomsdale, the daughter of the late Joseph Eisenbeis and Mary Kertz.
She was married to Leo "Punkin" Basler. He preceded her in death.
Children surviving are Leo "Chipper" Basler Jr. and his wife Carolyn, both of Ste. Genevieve; Charlene, Mrs. Dale Fick, of Parkville, Mo.; Lila Jeanne, Mrs. Ray Grither, of Ste. Genevieve; and Mary Agnes, Mrs. Richard Kammann, of White Pine, Tenn.
Fifteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.
Five brothers and one sister preceded her in death: Albert Eisenbeis, Benjamin Eisenbeis, Frank Eisenbeis, Henry Eisenbeis, John Eisenbeis and Anne Carron.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Charter member of the Ste. Genevieve Woman's Club, and Sodality of Mary.
She was a licensed funeral director for over 60 years; was involved in the Girl Scout Council of Greater St. Louis and had served on the local level and district as secretary and president; was the secretary-treasurer of the SEMO Funeral Directors from 1971 to 1987; was in business with her late husband Leo "Punkin" Basler as owner of the Basler Funeral Home and continued active in the business for many years after her husband's death.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 200 at the Basler Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Agnes E. Basler will be held Saturday, May 13, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of Ste. Genevieve. Rev. John Deken will officiate. Burial will be in the Valle Spring Cemetery.
Memorial preference is to the Valle Schools Foundation or Masses.
