GROVER C. DERFLINGER

      Grover Cleveland Derflinger of near Bethel, Va., died at Warren Memorial Hospital Monday, January 12, after an extended illness. He was 73.
      Mr. Derflinger, a retired merchant, was the son of J. J. Derflinger and Rachel Frederick Derflinger. He was born in this county on August 30, 1885. His wife, Violet Fox Derflinger, died before him. Survivors include a son, Jonas F. Derflinger in Bethel; four daughters, Mrs. Robert Tennett, Mrs. Stanley Brooks, Mrs. Frank McQuilkin, Mrs. Rudolph Morneault all living here and six grandchildren. A brother, John W. Derflinger, and a sister Mrs. Robert Catlett, both in Bethel also survive.
      Paul Walters assisted by Arthur Beahm conducted a service yesterday at 3 p. m. in the Maddox Funeral Home. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
      Pallbearers were Simon Hall, John McGruder, Dan Clegg, Lee Andrews, Oscar Fisher, Lawrence Hall. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Nicholas Helu, Dalton Hall, Walter Tate, James Hunt, Earl Hall, Tommy Andrews, Dewey Ritenour, Eston Vermillion, Alphonso Esteppe and Vernon Laing.
