Hollis is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Betty Batten of Charlottesville, Va.; three sons Hollis(H.B) Batten and his wife Starr of Florida, John (Christy) Batten of Scottsville, Va., Steve (Angela) Batten of Charlottesville, Va.; granddaughter Linda Dawn Batten, grandsons Travis Batten and Sam Batten, great grandson Noah Craig, brother Robert (Donna) Batten of Earlysville, Va., sister Florence (Pete) Bruce of White Hall, Va.; nephews Chad (Erin) Batten of Earlysville, Va., Stacey (Katie) Batten of Earlysville, Va., Scott (Christina) Deane; great niece Hattie Mae Batten of Earlysville, Va., great nephews Sampson and Cash Deane, and aunt Barbara (Bernard) Cook of Charlottesville, Va., sister in law Linda (David) Burnett, niece Brianna Burnett, Angelina (Jimmy) Dennis and family.

He served his country with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne, where he earned several medals including the 82nd Airborne Paratrooper Silver Wings.
A memorial service will be held from 2 pm. to 4 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home, in Charlottesville.
