On December 7, 1919, she was united in marriage to Pete Howard, and to this union five daughters and four sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete, on April 12, 1996; a son, Ralph Howard; two daughters, Fay Howard and Opal Laney; four brothers; and four sisters.
Della is survived by three sons, Dallas Howard, and his wife, Donna, of Seymour, Missouri, Raymond Howard, and his wife, Esther, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Harvey Howard, and his wife, Lois, of Springfield, Missouri; three daughters, Lora Eslinger, and her husband, Chester, of Marshfield, Missouri, Emogene Cornell, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Flo Ming, of Stockton, California; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Haley Russell, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Ozark County, Missouri. After she and Pete were married, they made their home near Dora, Missouri for several years before moving to the Seymour community in 1949. She and Pete continued to make their home in Webster County and lovingly raised their family. Throughout the years, Della was a devoted and hardworking homemaker.
Della was a member of the Church of Christ and attended the Division Street Church of Christ in Seymour for many years.
In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and also was an excellent cook. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Della was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, great-great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed, but the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends will live on forever.
Services were held November 14, 2002 at 1:00p.m. in the Ball Church of Christ, Dora, Missouri. Burial followed in the Ball Cemetery in Dora under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Seymour, Missouri.
