Born April 5, 1920, in Peoria to John H. and Alice V. Boulds Abel, he married Mary M. Hawley. She survives.
Also surviving are two sisters, Victoria Logan of Peoria and Margaret Weil of Glendale, Ariz.; one brother, John of Hemet, Calif.; two sons, Joseph of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mark of Lakewood, Calif.; two daughters, Martha Lanier-Giachello of Simi Valley, Calif., and Paula Trendle of Diamond Bar; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was a switchboard operator for Douglas Aircraft.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memory Garden Mortuary in Brea, Calif. Burial will be private.
