Garland Virginia (Chaudion) Gerber, 74, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at Tipton Memorial Hospital. She was born in Ellettsville, on Jan. 19, 1930, to George and Anna (Plaff) Chaudion.

She married Joseph James Gerber of Bloomington, on April 23, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1989. Garland enjoyed attending movies with her children, reading, quilting, crocheting and knitting.

Garland graduated from Bloomington High School and earned a nursing degree from Ivy Tech Kokomo. She worked at Syycamore Village in Kokomo.

She is survived by five children, Catherine G. Chittick and husband, Frank, of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Mitzi J. Brannum and husband Bruce, of Tipton, Carolyn (Jody) Teter and husband, Ron, of Tipton, James W. Gerber of Kokomo, and Cynthia A. Sequin and husband, John, of Carmel; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Two grandsons preceded her in death.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Tipton. Burial will follow in St. John's cemetery.
