Patricia Don (Milligan) Sproat, age 88, of La Porte, Texas died on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at home as a result of End Stage Renal Failure. She went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 18, 1934, in Hobart, Kiowa County, Oklahoma to Donly Parmiter Milligan and Macy (Stephens) Milligan. She was born in the front bedroom of her grandmother's home, Edna Bernice Parmiter Milligan. Patricia was the oldest of three daughters. She attended Roosevelt High School and Hobart High School up until she married the love of her life, Glenn Irwin Sproat of Okeene, Blaine County, Oklahoma. They were married for 37 years.

She met Glenn at her next door friend's home, Wanda Long. Their courtship began immediately, and on September 18, 1950 they went on their first date to the movies. Glenn proposed the following November. While Glenn patiently waited for a furlough from Fort Hood, the day finally arrived and they married on April 3, 1951 in Enid, Garfield County, Oklahoma.

Patricia worked at the Griffith Theater in Hobart and other various jobs until Glenn was discharged from the Army in November 1952. Their first daughter was born in August 1953. They remained in Hobart until Glenn decided to attend Oklahoma A&M in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He completed his degree in 1956, and was offered a position at Brown & Root as a piping draftsman in Houston, Texas.

Leaving their friends and family in Oklahoma, Patricia and Glenn were true pioneers. They made a home and raised three daughters with the closest relative over 500 miles away. They settled in Pasadena, Harris County, Texas and became residents making many lifelong friends over the years. Patricia was a natural when it came to running a household, raising three daughters and always helping others. She loved to sew and made many dresses, prom gowns and cheerleading uniforms. Every summer, she and Glenn planted a vegetable garden and canned much of the harvest for the fall and winter months.

Her greatest passion was her love for family genealogy which spanned over sixty years. She helped many families reconnect and find their generational lines. She volunteered as a genealogist at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Mormon Library in Pasadena, Harris County, Texas for over fifteen years. Researchers sought her help and guidance to find historical records and other fact finding documents. Patricia is renowned for her connections to Family Search, Find a Grave, Ancestry, Heritage, and many other known ancestry websites. She alone posted over 22,000 memorials online. Patricia was a member of the Navy Wives Clubs of America Houston #230, Daughters of the American Revolution, American Legion Post 521-Pasadena, and volunteered as a reader at Sparks Elementary School, Pasadena, Harris County, Texas. She loved spending summers on Lake Travis with her three grandchildren and lived to see all three of them obtain advance degrees which were some of her proudest moments.

She was employed by several organizations beginning with the Oklahoma State and Agriculture Department in Hobart, Kiowa County, Oklahoma; Gus Barry Drilling Company, Okmulgee, Oklahoma; WYO Bend Products, Houston, Harris County, Texas; and last Crane Packing Company, Houston, Harris County, Texas. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Hobart, Kiowa County, Oklahoma as a child and raised her daughters in the First Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, Harris County, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister Elizabeth Elaine (Milligan) Slater. She is survived by three daughters, Terry Sheehan and her husband Tim of Deer Park, Harris County, Texas, Connie Duke and her husband Jim of Monument, Colorado, and Kelly Cowan and her husband Billy of La Porte, Harris County, Texas; one sister Gayle Hutcherson of Tuttle, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Amy Duke of Pearland, Texas, Jason Duke of Conroe, Texas, and Courtney Dawson and her husband Kevin of Pasadena, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Chloe Dawson and Connor Dawson of Pasadena, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
