Antoine Babineaux, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2022, at the age of 88, in his home with his beloved family by his side.

He was born in rural Carencro, LA, on February 26, 1934, to the late Alexis Babineaux and Celise Brasseaux Babineaux. He was the second youngest of 16 children, 10 of which survived to adulthood.

On August 4, 1956, he married the love of his life, Julia Vinet Babineaux. They had one daughter, Rhonda Ann Babineaux Calecas, who they absolutely adored.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife; his parents, Alexis Babineaux and Celise Brasseaux Babineaux; his siblings, Gabin Babineaux, Wilfred Babineaux, Elvise Babineaux Menard, Omarine Babineaux Mire, William Babineaux, Willie Babineaux, Malvina Babineaux, Marie Babineaux Bernard, Rita Babineaux, Joseph Babineaux, Lorena Babineaux Meche, John Babineaux, Floyd Babineaux, and Emetile Babineaux.

Antoine is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Babineaux Calecas (Mike); his grandchildren, Danielle Calecas Cortez (Corey) and Stephanie Calecas Marquez (Daniel), as well as his great grandchildren, Jake Michael Marquez and Luca Julian Marquez. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he loved, and they loved him.

Following other family members, Antoine moved to the New Orleans area in 1956. For much of his life, he worked as a truck driver for McDermott. He had a big smile and a hug for everyone. He had a great big heart and was beloved by all who knew him.

He enjoyed camping, taking walks around his neighborhood and was an avid sports fan. He really liked to watch Nascar and college football. He loved to spend time with his family and extended family, especially his two great grandsons.

Antoine will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 1pm at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, 70072. A graveside service will immediately follow the Mass at Gates of Heaven Mausoleum in Westwego, LA. The visitation will begin at 11am.
