He was born July 2, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late William Albert Scott Sr. and Dorothea Frey Scott. He graduated from Sumner High School and went on to serve in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force. He had a passion for higher education earning a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Delaware State University, MPA of Urban Affairs from Princeton University, and an EdD of Anthropology of Education from Rutgers University. He was an Associate professor of Sociology at Delaware State University and worked as an Assistant Director and Vice President of Assessment at Towson University, and Associate Vice President of Western Association of Schools and Colleges. In 2010, he founded Light Givers International then became a Bishop of Glory United Ministries of Delaware along with his wife Pastor Patricia Benneman. In 2020, he became a proud author of a book entitled Ascension Dictations. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking, volunteering, traveling with his wife, watching basketball games and working on his radio show.
Besides his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his son Gregory M. Scott Jr. He is survived by his loving wife Pastor Patricia Benneman, daughters Dara Nataka Grimes (Isra), Maia Nsombi Scott (Troy), stepdaughter Dianne Dukes (Jeffrey), brother in laws Melvin F. Benneman, Elder Michael Benneman , William Turpin (Yvonne), Aunt Mrs. Bertha Ward, Uncle Donald Frey (Leah), beloved grandsons Troy Scott Jr, Darryn Gregory Scott, Trequon Seth, William Albert Scott, godsons, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
