Floya Gray Satterwhite passed away on May 21, 2022 at the age of 100. 


Mrs. Satterwhite was a long-time resident of Hueytown, Alabama and was a member of Hueytown Methodist Church.


Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, P. Roy Satterwhite; parents, Otis and Martha Gray; sister, Shirley Faye Connell; brother-in-law, Lester B. Connell; and nephew, Mark Horton. Survivors include her sons, Wayne Satterwhite (Martha) and Larry Satterwhite (Sara Jim); granddaughters, Jennifer, Rebecca, and Rachel Satterwhite; sister, Norma Jean Horton (Kenneth); niece, Martha Gothard (Mike); nephews, John Wade Connell (Terry), and Phillip Horton (Vickie) and several great-nephews.


Mrs. Satterwhite was born in Chilton County and was a graduate of Jemison High School. 


She married P. Roy Satterwhite on June 29, 1940 and enjoyed a loving 67 years of marriage.


She was a loving wife and mother, a homemaker, consummate gardener, and an active member of her garden club. Mrs. Satterwhite was a skilled flower arranger and served as judge in numerous flower shows.  At St. Martin's in the Pines where she resided until her death, she followed her passion of planting flowers and tending her garden. She particularly enjoyed her poppies which were admired by the residents many of whom sought her advice and requested seed.


She will be buried in Clanton, Alabama in a private celebration of her life on May 24th.
