DAVIS JUNCTION — Lorenz W. Metzger, 99, of Davis Junction passed away on May 18.
He was born on March 27, 1923, in Parkston, South Dakota, to Adolf J. and Martha (Wegehaupt) Metzger.
Lorenz married Betty J. Bunger, on June 15, 1947, in Rochelle. He was a farmer in the Rochelle area for over 75 years. Lorenz was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle.
Survivors include his children, a daughter; five sons and their wives; a sister: Olga; a sister-in-law; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Larry Metzger; brothers, Ewald, Nestor, Reinhard, Walter Metzger and Fritz, William, and Herman Bialas and sisters, Martha and Bertha Bialas, Hanna Metzger Schaver and Ruth Schnuckel.
Visitation will be from 2- 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 22 at Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. in Rochelle. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 23 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle with Rev. Greg Hoffmann officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or School.
