Michael I. Hussey, M.D., 89, of Winfield. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Heffernan) for 64 years; loving father of Mary (Daniel) Vollman, Michael J., Kevin (Jacqueline), Francis (Astrid), Anne (James) Bormes, Margaret (Thomas) Digenan, and Maureen (Robert) Challenger; cherished grandfather of Thomas, Jennifer, Daniel (Layne), Michael Shea (Tsubasa), Chavon, Dylan, Kevin Patrick (fiancée, Sara), Kristen (Aaron), John Henry (fiancée, Macy), Emma, Elizabeth, Aidan (Taleah), Brennan (Leanna), Kieran (Mitchell), Kameron, Madilyn, Margaret, James, Mary Claire, Grace, Peter, Thomas, Patrick, Peter, John, Claire, Elizabeth, Caroline, Michael, Patrick, and John; proud great grandfather of Seed; dear son of the late Michael and Rose Hussey; brother of the late Rose Marie (Robert) Hooper and uncle to many. A native of Chicago, Dr. Hussey was a proud graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas Grammar School, St. Ignatius College Prep, University of Notre Dame, Loyola Stritch School of Medicine and of his OB/GYN residency at Cook County Hospital. Dedicated to service, Dr. Hussey was a Captain in the U.S. Public Health Service and was one of the doctors who treated the student victims of the Our Lady of Angels School fire in 1958. Active for 30 years as a missionary, he led many religious pilgrimages and provided medical care to the underserved throughout the world. Throughout his 60+ year career, and as a founding physician of Central DuPage Hospital, he touched the lives of many. Most notably there are over ten thousand children who came into this life under his care. Visitation at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, May 20, 2022. Friends and Family are asked to meet at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 21, 2022. Interment Assumption Cemetery.
