MUNCIE - Elsie Lucille (Geesaman) Ashcraft, 99, of Muncie passed away Saturday morning, January 12, 2008 at the Waters of Yorktown.

She was born June 26, 1908 to the late Noah and Anna Elizabeth (Binegar) Geesaman. She graduated from Pennville High School and went on to earn her Bachelors degree in teaching from Normal City College now known as Ball State University.

After a few years of teaching she went on to spend most of her working life as a bookkeeper for her and her husbands business, Ashcraft Machine.

She was a member of the Indiana Historical Society and Smithsonian Institute. She enjoyed doing genealogy of her family.
She is survived by 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives in the Portland Vicinity.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Murry O. Ashcraft in 1970 after 42 years of marriage; two children, Murry Lee Ashcraft and Carol A. Jones.

A funeral service to celebrate Elsie's life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home at 4600 W. Kilgore Ave. with Pastor Brad Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. prior to services on Thursday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
