Jacinto M. "J.R." Vasquez Jr., 61, was born November 2, 1960, in Lubbock to Jacinto & Rosita Vasquez Sr. J.R. graduated in 1980 from Roosevelt High School where he played football. He later married MaryLou Orta on July 22, 1994, in Lubbock. He enjoyed boxing, cooking, playing softball and listening to Tejano music. He loved to barbecue, watching the Dallas Cowboys; but more than anything, he loved spending time with his family and brothers on the weekends. He was a kind man with a loving soul who rarely said no to anyone, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

On May 15, 2022, J.R. Vasquez was called from this earth and into the arms of his eternal father. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Lou Vasquez of Lubbock; three brothers, David & Susan Vasquez, Emilio Antonio Vasquez both of Lubbock, Elias & Elizabeth Vasquez of College Station; a sister, Isabel Vasquez of Lubbock; host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Judy Ann DeClerk.

Services for J.R. will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 21, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Joseph Thanavelil officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors. A rosary will be held 6:00 pm Friday, May 20, 2022, in The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors with visitation starting 4:00 pm Thursday, May 19, 2022.
