Charles Dean Masters, age 87, of Erwin, TN, passed away October 17, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and was the son of the late Henry and Hattie Griffith Masters. He was retired from the United States Air Force. He was a member of the VFW and the DAV.
Survivors include: Wife, Ruth Masters of Erwin, TN, daughter, Uta Gabriele Lewey and husband Paul Edward Lewey, of Johnson City, TN, step-daughter, Mary Gay Engle and husband Kim Engle of Clinton, TN, step-son, Russell Moore of Erwin, TN, granddaughter, Heather Gabriele Lewey of Alexandria, VA, and grandson, Nathanael Paul Lewey and wife Carrie of Johnson City, TN and step-grandchildren Mary A. Engle and John L. Engle, of Clinton, TN.
He was preceded in death by wife, Annie H. Masters, son, Ronald Dean Masters, brothers, Leo and Phil Masters, and sister, Shirley Street.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 1:00PM at the Masters Cemetery on Bee Branch Road in Bakersville, NC. Rev. Mike Peterson will be officiating the service.
