JEFFERSON WILL FACE HEARING IN MURDER CASE
Irvin Simmons Victim of Saturday Night Altercation

Examing trial is scheduled for tomorrow for Timothy Jefferson, 30, of Tom, who is charged with murder in connection with the club slaying Saturday night of Irvin Simmons, 52, also of Tom.

County Attorney C. D. Wilkinson said Jefferson confessed to the murder, explaining that it followed a drunken argument.

The slaying occurred Saturday night and Jefferson was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Robert Ives, assisted by Constable Sam Murray of Tom.

Funeral services for Simmons were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Kullituklo, with Rev. Robert Tames, officiating and Coffey Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, four sons, Jake, Jasper, Jonah, and William; a half-brother, Houston Holt of Idabel and other relatives.

Simmons was born May 1, 1884 at Tom, and has lived in that community all his life. He was well known in McCurtain county.

JEFFERSON IS BOUND OVER WITHOUT BAIL

Timonthy Jefferson, Choctaw, was bound over to district court without bail in Justice J. M. Crocker's court at Tom Thursday afternoon, County Attorney C. D. Wilkinson said.

Jefferson faces a murder charge in connection with the slaying last Saturday night of Irvin Simmons at Tom.

Jefferson was arrested shortly after the tragedy by Deputy Sheriff Robert Ives, assisted by Constable Sam Murray of Tom.
