Known as "Turner", he was a Confederate solder in the US Civil War as as a private in Company G, 13th Regiment, Kentucky Cavalry (CSA). He enter in 1961. He was captured and sent to a Prisoner of War camp. He died of pneumonia on March 4, 1865 in the POW camp (near Richmond, VA)

He married Nancy Combs on June 13, 1853. They had at least six children.
