Funeral services for Sarah Laub were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 16 at the Assumption Worship Center. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Sarah Elizabeth Laub was born May 28, 1981. She grew up on a farm west of Cresco.
She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church; was baptized May 18, 1986; and naturalized as a U.S. citizen on October 22, 1986. She received her First Communion on April 2, 1989 and was Confirmed on April 16, 1997. She attended Cresco High School for two years; was home schooled one year and graduated from Decorah High School on May 30, 1999. She was presently a junior at Luther College in Decorah.
Her activities included: playing piano, clarinet and violin. She was an excellent swimmer; was in 4-H for nine years, and was on the Howard County 4-H and Youth Committee and County Council. Sarah was on the track team in junior high and the golf team in high school. She participated in drama events and won several I ratings at state speech contests. She was selected to go to a Law and Advocacy Conference in Washington, D.C., for a month and won the Mock Trail Award. While in college, she participated in Mock Trial and won the Outstanding Lawyer and Outstanding Witness Awards. In June of 1998, Sarah was named Howard County Fair Queen.
Sarah died on April 5, 2001. Survivors include her mother Gretchen; two sisters: Lucy and Tanya; one brother: George, all of Cresco; and grandmother: Mary Laub of Cresco.
