J.E. King, 55, formerly Atlantan, died Tuesday afternoon in Shreveport, La., after an illness of two weeks. Funeral plans are incomplete.
Mr. King was a native of Atlanta. He was a warehouse manager in Shreveport for the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co., with whom he had been associated 24 years. A veteran of World War I, he served with the Army in France.
He was the son of the late Willis and Anna King. Mr. King was a member of the Kings Highway Christian Church, the Shriners, Kiwanis, and had been active there in relief drives for Chinese children following World War II.
Surviving are a wife, the former Maude Pannell; a son, George Elbert King; a daughter, Miss Mary Jane King, and several nieces and nephews."

Inducted into the U.S. Army in Atlanta on 8 July 1918. 12 Co Savannah to Ft Screven Auto replacement draft to 25 Nov 1918. Tractor Artillery Replacement Battalion to 17 Dec 1918; Battery C 54 Artillery Costal Artillery Corps to discharge.
Promoted to Corporal on 15 Sep 1918.
Overseas from 25 Sep 1918 to 7 March 1929.
Honorable discharged on 21 March 1919.
